CALL FOR CONGRESS

Dear Scientists, Teachers and Employees of Different Institutions;

The common aim of the International Congresses on Geographical Education (UCEK 2018, UCEK 2019, UCEK 2020 (postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak), UCEK 2021 ...), is to connect leading academics, researchers and decision-makers from the field to collaborate academically, and with integrity, to create a platform called “Powerful Geographical Education, Powerful Future”.

The first International Congress on Geographical Education was organized by Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş University, Turkey between 8 – 10 November 2018, and the second Congress was organized by Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Turkey between 3 – 5 October 2019. The third Congress was planned by Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Turkey between 25 – 27 June 2020, however, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The third Congress will now be held online between 14 – 17 October 2021.

Investment decision for the social and economic development of a district, region, or country require a deep-rooted systematic geographic knowledge and skill. Ibn Khaldun states “Geography is Destiny”, and Michael Palin states that “Geography is the subject which holds the key to our future”. Therefore, it can be said that Geography is the “knowledge” that brings distant things closer. Geography is the “skill” that connects continents to each other with bridges and tunnels. Geography is the “value” that unites different societies and cultures. In short, geography is a love, a passion for understanding the connections between people and place.

The main theme of the 3rd International Congress for Geography Education (UCEK 2021), as determined by the organizing committee, is “Geographical Education for the Life”. The purpose is to find solutions to problems determined in a scientific integrity.

To all scientists, researchers and educators who are passionate about and in love with geography, we are pleased to invite you to the 3rd International Congress on Geographical Education. We desire to make the Congress an unforgettable and successful experience for all participants. We look forward to meeting you between 14 – 17 October 2021.

The 3rd International Congress on Geographical Education will include sessions/panels on geography field work education, all sub-branches of geography and subjects related to geography.

Languages of Congress

Presentation languages will be Turkish and English.

Submission of Papers and Abstracts

When submitting the abstracts, please follow this link to submit your abstracts, and the abstracts should only be submitted though there. Abstracts will be evaluated by two reviewers through a blind review process.
